Arriving and Checking In
You’ll want to get directions and know where to park closest to the correct hospital entrance for your procedure. Get maps and directions.
What to bring. Bring a photo ID, insurance information, and any necessary paperwork. You may also choose to bring a few personal items like a gown, robe, slippers, and toiletries. Safety deposit boxes are available, but we recommend you leave valuables at home. Keep necessary items like dentures, glasses, and hearing aids in a safe place in your hospital room when you’re not using them. We aren’t responsible for damaged or lost items.
Arrival time. Ask your doctor how early you should arrive for your procedure. Generally, plan on arriving at least an hour in advance of your scheduled procedure.
Once you're here. You’ll be greeted by an admission coordinator at one of our admissions desks located near Entrances #1 and #3. Your admissions coordinator takes steps to ensure your safety and privacy. Be sure to follow any specific admission instructions given by your doctor. Paperwork, insurance information, identification, and medication lists are typically submitted and filed at this time.
Need assistance getting to where you’re going? Simply ask any one of our staff, and we’ll gladly help you on your way.
When It's Time to Leave
Every stay is different. Your attending physician will provide you with an estimated date of discharge based on your condition. Throughout your stay, depending on your progress, your date of discharge may be adjusted. You can expect to receive regular updates from your attending physician and the other members of your care team.
Preparing for discharge. Your discharge planner, an integral part of your treatment team, connects you with the resources you need to smoothly transition out of the hospital. You may require a visiting nurse or rehabilitation therapist, home medical equipment, or a short stay at a rehabilitation facility. Often, you’ll be given a set of instructions for your home care. Be sure to discuss any needs or concerns with your treatment team before you leave. Learn more about all of your continuing care options at ProMedica.
Medications for home. Your nurse will order your prescriptions for pickup at our outpatient pharmacy, if you leave during operating hours. The pharmacy is located on the first floor, near Entrance #4. Provide your insurance card and date of birth. You can conveniently pick up your prescription as you leave the hospital.
