Genetics. The Northwest Ohio Comprehensive Genetics Center specializes in evaluation, diagnosis, and counseling for pediatric patients. Examples include developmental delays, developmental difficulties, and abnormal newborn screens including metabolic disorders. Genetic counseling services are also available to help educate families on prognosis, complications that may occur, and the best therapy plans available. A licensed dietician is also on staff to educate families on metabolic disorders and the best formulas/diet plans for a child's disorder. Some lab testing is available through ProMedica, however many samples are sent out to state of the art genetics labs for testing and evaluation. Kids in Safe Seats. K.I.S.S. provides car seat safety services, including Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, reduced cost car seats, safety and recall information, safe restraint options for children with special health care needs, and education on choosing and properly installing children’s safety seats. Parent Mentor Program. Mentors provide emotional support, guidance, and information to parents whose child is experiencing hospitalization, chronic illness, or disability. Mentors are veteran parents with diverse backgrounds and experiences. 419-291-1563.
Safe Kids Greater Toledo. Prevention of unintentional childhood injuries through public education, community programming, safety product distribution, legislation, and media outreach.
