When You Arrive
What to bring for your child. A few personal items like a robe, slippers, and toiletry articles, in addition to any necessary paperwork, insurance information, and identification are all you’ll need.
When to get here. Your doctor will tell you what time to arrive. You can typically plan on arriving at least an hour or two before your child’s scheduled procedure.
Getting where you need to go. Get maps, parking information, and directions.
When you get here. Your admission coordinator meets you and your child at the admissions desk. You’ll be guided through the admission process, ensuring paperwork, insurance information, identification, or medication lists are filed and complete. Follow any other specific admission instructions given by your doctor.
Staff identification. All ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital staff wear picture ID badges that include their name, title, and department. In addition, the uniform colors will help you identify their role: nurses wear navy, white, or printed uniforms; patient transport wear tan; and volunteers wear green aprons. Ask your unit clerk for help identifying other ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital staff.
When It’s Time to Leave the Hospital
You may have an estimated length of stay, but your child’s treatment team will collaborate with you and your family to determine when it’s best to leave the hospital. We’ll help you make that transition.
Getting ready for discharge. You’ll get the resources you and your child need so he or she can recover at home. Visiting nurses or rehabilitation therapists, medical equipment, or a short rehabilitation stay are a few services your child’s discharge planner will coordinate for you if necessary. Before you leave, openly express your family’s needs or concerns with your treatment team. Contact your discharge planner at 419-291-4003.
Prescriptions for home. Our pharmacy is located on the first floor, by ProMedica Toledo Hospital lobby, Entrance #4. Our nurses are happy to send your child’s order to our pharmacy, if you leave during operating hours. You may then pick up your prescription as you and your child leave. Bring your insurance card. Most prescription insurance plans are accepted.
