ProMedica Monograph Outlines Role of Collaboration in Ending Hunger
ProMedica is working together with community agencies, faith organizations, businesses, and elected leaders toward ending hunger, and sharing the successful strategies that are being employed in our region. To outline the need to work collaboratively to fight the causes of hunger, ProMedica is sharing our article, A Case to End U.S. Hunger Using Collaboration to Improve Population Health, with all who have a stake in achieving a healthier population. This monograph details why the healthcare industry must align with community and government efforts to make the fight against hunger a winnable battle – while improving overall population health. This document also outlines the strategies implemented by ProMedica that can serve as a model for healthcare leaders nationwide, and provides reasons why we must advocate for public policy changes that address this critical public health issue.
Come to the Table to End U.S. Hunger Through our collaborative Come to the Table advocacy initiative, ProMedica is addressing hunger as a health issue and encouraging other health care leaders, government officials and additional partners to expand the effort to their communities. View this video below to learn more about hunger and ProMedica’s initiatives to address food insecurity and poor nutrition among the people we serve.
ProMedica's Work on Hunger as Health Issue Referenced on Floor of U.S. House ProMedica was recently referenced in a floor speech by Representative James McGovern (D-MA) in the U.S. House of Representatives for its work as it relates to hunger as a health issue. In the speech, Rep. McGovern states how it is imperative that the medical community follow the lead of health care organizations like ProMedica, and calls for national dialogue so that hunger across the nation can be effectively addressed. Extended coverage eligibility essential to health and well-being of Ohio residents
As Ohio's legislators consider the state's biennial budget legislation, it is critical that extended Medicaid eligibility be maintained for thousands of previously uninsured Ohioans. Maintaining eligibility for this population will continue to support the state's efforts to reduce healthcare costs and improve the health status of Ohio residents. Better care access means more of our residents are obtaining treatment for unmet physical and behavioral health conditions, and seeking preventive care. In addition, having health coverage keeps employees on the job and improves productivity, and supports reduced financial stress on families trying to make ends meet. Please view the video below or visit ProMedica’s Government Relations Action Center for more information.
