You want to be as prepared as possible before your visit to ProMedica Monroe Regionall Hospital. We understand. This page will introduce you to hospital policies that affect you and your visitors, as well as the amenities and support you’ll have during and after your visit.

Information for Your Visit
What should you bring to the hospital? You’ll need a photo ID, insurance card, and your doctor’s written order. Bring a robe, slippers, and toiletry articles, if you like, and anything you need for daily function such as:

Make sure to leave anything you don’t need, especially valuables, at home. Store any personal items you bring in a safe place while you aren’t using them, since we cannot be responsible for any lost or broken personal items.
How can you learn more about your procedure? Knowledge is important to good health. Your medical team will give you details about your procedure, how to prepare, and what to expect after. You can also get information about your medical procedure through our online health resource, Emmi®. If your ProMedica Physicians provider gives you an access code, learn about your procedure with Emmi®.
Can family members stay with you? Your family members are welcome to use the sleeper sofa included in every room. Your family is also eligible to receive a discount at area hotels. Ask your nurse or another staff member for a list of area hotels.
Can you make and receive calls from your room? Local calls are free, but you're responsible for any long-distance calls you place. Your room’s phone number is labeled on the phone. Calls can also be transferred to you from the main hospital phone number at 734-240-8400.
Are cell phones allowed? You and your visitors may use cell phones in any of our hospital public areas. Cell phones may not be used within six feet of medical equipment or in restricted areas. If you’re in doubt, just ask any staff member.
What about special dining requests? Our food and nutrition department is happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions you request or your doctor orders. Call us at 734-240-8400.
Can you receive mail and other deliveries? Yes. Flowers and mail are delivered to you daily by our volunteers. We'll forward any mail we receive after you leave to your home address. You can also purchase stamps in our gift shop and drop mail in the mailbox located just outside the switchboard office on the main floor of the hospital.
Is there a television in the room? You have access to free local cable and health education programming. A channel guide is available in your room.
Communication, Advocacy, and Support
Are interpreters available? Yes. Interpreter services are available free of charge to our patients and families. Press “0” on your room phone to talk to the hospital operator. The operator will connect you.
How do you get hearing assistance or a sign language interpreter? Services are available to you if you’re hearing-impaired. We also have phones with volume controls. Press “0” on your room phone to talk to the hospital operator. Download our interpreter services policy statement here.
How do I make arrangements for interpreter or sign language assistance prior to coming to the hospital? ProMedica complies with all federal nondiscrimintation and accessibility laws. Read more about how we comply here, or call 844-810-1634 to arrange for the services you need.
What if you have concerns about your care? Patient representatives are available to answer questions, hear your concerns, and work with you and your family to make your experience the best it can be. Press “0” on your room phone and ask to speak to an administrative supervisor.
Is spiritual support available? A local clergy member is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to meet with you and your family. You're also welcome to use the non-denominational chapel located on the second level of our hospital. Bibles and other spiritual books are also available. Ask your caregiver about this service.
Policies You Should Know
What is the smoking policy? Tobacco use of any kind is not allowed in our hospital or anywhere on our grounds, sidewalks, lawns, or parking lots (including in vehicles). Please be considerate and avoid littering on neighboring property.
Can you leave information for callers? With your permission, we can give your room number and general condition to callers who ask for you by name. Ask your caregiver about this service.
