Surgical Options for Hernia Treatment in Toledo
ProMedica offers three types of surgical options for hernia repair in Toledo and the surrounding area:
Open hernia repair: Your surgeon will cut the skin at the groin and push the bulging intestine back into your belly. They will stitch close the opening in the muscle wall. If your muscle wall is weak, they may use a steel mesh or wire to strengthen this area in your muscle.
Laparoscopic hernia repair: Your surgeon will make a few small incisions in your lower belly. They will insert a thin, flexible tube into one of the incisions. The tube has a camera that allows your surgeon to see the inside of your belly. They use small tools to repair the hernia with mesh.
Robotic hernia repair: Your surgeon will make a few small incisions in your lower belly. They will sit at a console a few feet from the operating table and using tiny instruments, including a camera, they will repair your hernia with precision.
