Diagnosis and Treatment
Did you know that ProMedica Podiatry is conveniently located in Toledo, Ohio
What podiatry treatments do we offer?
ProMedica's Podiatry team performs a variety of diagnostic services and minor surgical procedures in the office including:
- Custom Foot Orthotics
Orthotics are medical devices made from a digital image, foam impression or plaster casting of the feet. They are prescribed and custom made to correct a variety of abnormal biomechanical foot conditions. They support your feet and restore normal foot function.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound (sonography) is an imaging method that uses sound waves to evaluate soft tissues for injury or disease. These ultrasounds are excellent for tendonitis, tendon tears, plantar fasciitis and diagnosing cysts and soft tissue masses. Ultrasounds, unlike x-rays and CAT scans, do not use radiation to create an image.
- Minor Office Surgeries
Our office is equipped to perform many minor office procedures. We can safely correct ingrown or fungal nails, remove warts, bone spurs, relax tight tendons and joints under local anesthesia.
- PADnet testing
PADnet testing is done to check the blood circulation in your legs and feet. P.A.D (peripheral artery disease), occurs when there is a buildup of cholesterol and plaque causing a narrowing in the arteries of the lower extremities. This buildup causes decreased blood flow to the legs and feet. PADnet is a screening test that can detect potential blockages in these arteries. PADnet testing has a significant predictive value in increasing the awareness of potential circulatory system diseases that
can cause a heart attack or stroke. Be sure to wear, or bring a short sleeved shirt and shorts when you are testing and do not smoke or use tobacco 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
- Sural Nerve Conduction Study
Our DPN sural nerve conduction device is used to detect signs of lower extremity neuropathy or nerve damage. Neuropathy can cause numbness, tingling and pain. Neuropathy can be one of the first symptoms of diabetes. This test gives results in
less than one minute and can detect signs of neuropathy even when symptoms are minor.
Our office uses high speed, low-dose x-rays to help detect and diagnosis fractures, bone spurs, arthritis and other bone ailments of the feet. X-rays are taken and processed during your visit for fast and efficient diagnosis of your condition.
