Emergency Medicine Residency - ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital
Program Director: Gregory Reinhold, DO, FACOEP, FACEP
Dr. Gregory Reinhold has nearly 30 years of experience in emergency medicine. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his residency training at the former Botsford General Hospital (Beaumont Farmington Hills) where he was chief resident. In addition to working at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital since 1994, he has also worked at Medcentral Shelby Hospital in Ohio as well as St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, Mich. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. Dr. Reinhold is a member of the American Osteopathic Society, American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, American College of Emergency Physicians and Michigan Osteopathic Association. He serves as an oral board examiner for the AOBEM and is an item writer for both the NBOME and AOBEM. He is passionate about the future of our program and producing excellent emergency medicine physicians.

APD/Director Wellness: Vincent Rimanelli, DO
Dr. Vincent Rimanelli has over 20 years of experience since obtaining his medical degree at Des Moines University. He completed a residency in internal medicine and emergency medicine at Bi-County Community Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital in affiliation with Michigan State University. He is a diplomat of the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. Prior to his work with ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, he also practiced internal medicine in Dundee, Mich. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine and fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Physicians. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, American Academy of Anti-Aging Physicians and Michigan Osteopathic Association.

Spencer Johnson, DO, FACEP
Dr. Spencer Johnson has been in the medical field 24 year. After high school, Dr. Johnson joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and served 4 years. After his military service Dr. Johnson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo followed by medical school at The Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Johnson then completed an Internal medicine internship and Residency in Emergency Medicine at St Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Johnson is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of The American College of Emergency Physicians. Currently, Dr, Johnson is the medical director of the emergency department at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital and a partner in Emergency Physicians of Northwest Ohio. Dr. Johnson’s interest’s include critical care medicine, trauma and sepsis and is passionate about providing patients with the best possible care and patient experience.

Director of Curriculum: Jeffrey Trager, DO
Dr. Jeffrey Trager is a graduate of the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, IL and has worked in Emergency Departments from Michigan to Maui over his 25-year career. Dr. Trager completed his Medical Internship and Emergency Medicine Residency at the former Botsford General Hospital (Beaumont Farmington Hills) in Farmington Hills, MI. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine.

Director of Faculty Development: Richard Cousino II, DO, FACEP
Dr. Richard Cousino II has spent the last 26 years in the medical field. He started as a nursing student and paramedic before entering medical school. Dr. Cousino attended Monroe County Community College and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Lourdes College, Sylvania, Ohio. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, East Lansing, Michigan. His internship and residency in Emergency Medicine were completed at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Cousino is a current diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and also a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine. His memberships include the Catholic Medical Association, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, ACEP, MCEP, and is a volunteer firefighter/first responder for the Erie Township Fire Dept. Dr. Cousino serves as director of the Monroe County Medical Authority.

Director of Simulation: Jeffrey Ford, MD
Dr. Ford has 17 years of experience in Emergency Medicine since obtaining his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He started his career as a chemical/paper engineer after graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Miami University. He worked as an associate engineer, a process coordinator, and a field service engineer in paper making, printing, and metal heat-treat facilities before starting medical school. He finished a year of urology internship before switching to Emergency Medicine residency training at St. Vincent mercy medical Center in Toledo Ohio. Dr. Ford has been and associate of clinical professor at the University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) for 9 years along with serving as medical director at Promedica Fostoria Community Hospital and as core faculty at UTMC before joining Promedica Monroe core faculty in 2019. Dr. Ford is board certified in Emergency Medicine and an active member of ACEP and Ohio ACEP.

Director of Research: Patrick Bruss, MD
Dr. Bruss attended John Carroll University and went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Bruss completed his emergency medicine residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio and has been actively involved in resident education since 2012. Dr. Bruss interests include EKG’s, research, and resident education receiving the Teacher of the Year Award for the University of Toledo Medical Center. Dr. Bruss is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and an active member of ACEP.
Director of Ultrasound: Nikhil Mohan, DO
Dr. Mohan is a graduate of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine who completed his emergency medicine residency training at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, in June of 2017. He served as the Resident Representative for the Ohio American College of Emergency Physicians from 2015-16. Prior to working at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, Dr. Mohan worked at Mercy St. Anne Hospital, Mercy St. Charles Hospital, and Mercy St. Vincent Hospital. He is currently a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His interests include evidence based emergency medicine practice and pediatric emergency medicine.
