Volunteer

Our volunteer staff fulfill an important function at Defiance Regional Hospital. While performing any number of meaningful duties at our facility, hospital volunteers provide a human connection to patients and their loved ones and help guide them through the treatment process.

By offering their time and talents, our volunteers gain a sense of purpose and fulfillment when they give back to their community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteer program offers opportunities in the following areas:

Beautiful Beginnings

The Defiance Regional Hospital Auxiliary helps with a mailing to new and expectant Mothers, providing advice and guidance throughout their pregnancy, birth and first year of their child’s life.

Coffee Cart

The Defiance Regional Hospital Auxiliary runs a coffee cart in the Hospital lobby Monday thru Friday mornings. Hot specialty drinks and donuts are sold.

Gift Shop

The Defiance Regional Hospital Gift Shop is located beside the main lobby. It is staffed and run by volunteers Monday thru Friday and Sundays. Cards, flowers, sundries and miscellaneous gift items are available.

Information Desk

The information desk is staffed by volunteers who help to located patients, give directions and answer questions. The desk is staffed Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons.

Surgery Desk

The volunteers at the Defiance Regional Hospital Surgery Desk help to check patients in for their procedures, notify the families when they are needed and help to transport patients to the entrance.

  • The desk is staffed Monday – Friday.

Thrift Shop

The Defiance Regional Hospital Thrift Shop accepts and sells used clothing, accessories and home décor to raise funds for Auxiliary supported projects and services at the Hospital. The Shop also provides reusable goods at a fair price for those in need.
