Toledo Hospital Breast Care Center has been accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. This designation signifies that the Center meets the highest standards of the radiology profession and has a three-year term of accreditation for mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
In 2009, Cenpatico Managed Care Company recognized Toledo Hospital as one of only nine hospitals in the U.S. to be a Gold Card provider for excellent psychiatric services.
In 2009, Aetna Institutes of Quality Bariatric Surgery Network designated Toledo Hospital as an Institutes of Quality Bariatric Surgery Facility based upon evaluation of the hospital's clinical performance and overall value as a facility.
Toledo Hospital has earned the Consumer Choice Award from National Research Corporation for its high quality and image rankings every year since the award program’s inception in 1995/1996. Only 39 other hospitals in the nation have earned the award for 13 consecutive years. Additionally, Toledo Hospital is the only hospital in the area ever to be recognized with the award.
Toledo Hospital has been named a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care® by Blue Cross Blue Shield Association in recognition of its exemplary commitment to quality cardiac care, resulting in better overall outcomes for cardiac patients.
In 2009, Maternal-fetal Medicine at Toledo Hospital (TH) received re-accreditation for its ultrasound services by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. Toledo Hospital’s service is the only maternal-fetal medicine program in Toledo to hold this elite distinction.
Toledo Hospital was recognized by the 2008 Leapfrog Group for fully meeting coronary artery bypass graft and percutaneous coronary intervention standards. The Leapfrog Group focuses on patient safety issues.
Toledo Hospital is one of only three hospitals in the state to receive a grant from the Ohio Department of Health for its tobacco cessation program. Its Tobacco Treatment Center received the grant from the agency’s Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Program in 2008 to help local residents quit tobacco for good, regardless of their insurance or ability to pay.
In 2008, Toledo Hospital was re-verified as a Level I Trauma Center by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons. This achievement recognizes Toledo Hospital’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.
ProMedica and Toledo Hospital won the 2007 Spirit of Excellence Award in the quality category for an initiative to monitor and control blood glucose levels in critically ill patients. The award is co-sponsored by Modern Healthcare and Sodexho Health Care Services.
