Classes and Events

At ProMedica Toledo Hospital, we care about the health and well-being of the community that we serve. We offer our community members and businesses a variety of educational programs and support groups that are offered each month, both on site at Toledo Hospital and throughout the area. We promote wellness by providing health risk appraisals, health clinics, education, fitness activities and resources, and referrals.

CPR for Family and Friends

This course is geared toward family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death and those who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones. Participants will be given a participation card upon completion of the course. This is not a workplace credential course. To receive a credential, participants must complete the Heartsaver CPR or Heartsaver AED course.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid

This course teaches basic first aid, CPR and AED skills to those who are responsible for children. The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid class meets the regulatory and credentialed requirements for child care works in all 50 states. Those who complete the course will received a Heartsaver course completion card. The course discusses how to react in medical, injury and environmental emergencies.

Become a BLS Instructor

To become a BLS Instructor, you must follow a few steps. First, connect with an authorized American Heart Association Training Center. At the center, you must obtain or present a provider card in First Aid, AED, Heartsaver CPR, and Healthcare Provider. Next, take the online course “Core Course: Skills Evaluator” (the center will guide you with course instructions). After you have completed the test, you will be monitored while conducting skills practice and testing sessions. Lastly, register with the American Heart Association Instructor Network to receive beneficial updates.

This course is a one-day program designed to prepare American Heart Association instructors to teach the science, skills and philosophy of resuscitation programs to participants. To become a BLS instructor, you must have a current healthcare provider card.

Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens

This course is designed for those who may have a chance of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens in workplace settings. The PACT acronym (Protect, Act, Clean, Tell) and slogan, “Make a Pact, Know How To Act,” are used to help course participants understand and remember bloodborne pathogens training. This is a one-year certification.

Communicable Disease for Day Care Centers

This course provides information to child day care providers about communicable diseases, measures to take to control the spread of disease and other child health issues, fulfilling the staff in-service requirement of prevention, recognition and management of communicable diseases.
