Patient, Family and Visitor Safety

Your safety is of the utmost importance to ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital. We make every effort to ensure your child’s safety, your safety and the safety of your visitors while on the hospital campus. Our security department operates 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

If you have any questions about campus safety or security, please call 419-291-4128.

The Hugs System

For the protection of infants and children, small tags (called Hugs Tags) are placed on one leg of infants and children hospitalized at Toledo Children’s Hospital. The tags electronically communicate with a monitoring system and send out a warning if an infant or child has either left or been removed from his or her specific hospital floor.

Patient and Parent/Guardian Identification Bands

Identification (I.D.) bands will be placed on all patients at Toledo Children’s Hospital, so that children can be correctly identified. Parents and caregivers should expect every staff member to check their children’s I.D. bands and verify every child’s identity before drawing blood, performing tests, giving medications or blood products, and before surgery.

Parents are also given I.D. bands and are asked to wear their bands to help the staff identify them as their child's primary caregiver.
