Before she injured her knee, Linda enjoyed going to the gym and exercising with her mom. They used the time not only to exercise, but to catch up and talk about their lives. However, the pain in Linda’s knee became so severe that they had to stop their weekly routine. It was then that Linda knew something needed to be done.
Linda saw an orthopaedic surgeon who informed her that the only way to relieve the pain was to have surgery. He scheduled her for a partial knee replacement at ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital.
Linda was very anxious about the procedure; however, her anxiety quickly went away when she met the team at the hospital. Before her surgery, each member of the surgical team introduced themselves and thoroughly explained every step of the process. “I was terrified about the entire surgery,” said Linda. “But by [the doctor] explaining it, and the people in the operating room explaining what they did, I felt very calm when I was ready to go into surgery.”
Linda continued to be impressed by Wildwood’s staff during recovery. They nurses were attentive and compassionate, and spent a lot of time with her making sure she was OK.
“They made it very personable,” said Linda. “They do a lot of one-on-one.”
Since her surgery, Linda says her quality of life is almost back to where she wants it to be. The pain is gone and she is getting back to the things she loves – going to the gym, riding her bike and just being active with her family.
“The whole experience I think was a wonderful experience,” said Linda. “I would go there again.”
