Come to the Table to End U.S. Hunger
As part of its collaborative Come to the Table advocacy initiative, ProMedica is addressing hunger as a health issue and encouraging other healthcare leaders, federal legislators and additional partners to expand the effort to their communities. ProMedica and one of its national partners, the Alliance to End Hunger, held a national summit in Washington, D.C., on February 27, 2014 to broaden the dialogue about hunger and health. Randy Oostra, ProMedica president and chief executive officer, unveiled this video about the problem of U.S. hunger and some solutions at the Capitol Hill summit.
ProMedica's Work on Hunger as Health Issue Referenced on Floor of U.S. House
ProMedica was recently referenced in a floor speech by Representative James McGovern (D-MA) in the U.S. House of Representatives for its work as it relates to hunger as a health issue. In the speech, Rep. McGovern states how it is imperative that the medical community follow the lead of healthcare organizations like ProMedica, and calls for national dialogue so that hunger across the nation can be effectively addressed.
