Our Foundation
Because of the efforts of community hospitals, like ProMedica Bixby Hospital, far more patients survive serious diseases and injuries than would have been possible just a few years ago. Every new piece of equipment and each new medical professional we recruit makes every family in our region—including yours—a little healthier.
A vital source of funding our efforts to improve your health and well-being is the philanthropic support of people like you! The generosity of our donors provides us the opportunity to maintain a hospital that is modern and progressive. Without this community support, many of these services and programs would simply not be possible.
The professionals at ProMedica Bixby Foundation help caring donors establish the charitable venue that best suits their goals. There are many ways you can help: annual giving, planned giving, specific needs, memorial gifts or gifts in honor of a recipient.
As a not-for-profit community hospital, ProMedica Bixby depends heavily on the generosity of our caring donors to fulfill our primary mission. Every gift, no matter how large or small, helps to save lives and create a better community.

Annual Events
ProMedica Bixby Foundation holds two events each year to raise money for Bixby and to provide additional needs not met through capital budgets. These events provide an opportunity for friends of the hospital to come together doing something enjoyable to them while raising money for designated hospital projects.
The annual events at ProMedica Bixby are:
ProMedica Bixby Hospital Pro-Am
The ProMedica Bixby Hospital Pro-Am Golf Tournament features an exciting day of golf, dinner, live and silent auctions, and other fun activities. Proceeds from the event help support programs and services at Bixby Hospital. The 26th annual Pro-Am will take place on July 26, 2013 at Lenawee Country Club. Dinner will be held later in evening at The Legacy Golf Club. To support or learn more about the event, please contact Terri Butler at 517-424-3305 or terri.butler@promedica.org.
Last year’s Pro-Am raised more than $100,000 to support the purchase of laparoscopic equipment for ProMedica Bixby Hospital.
Graze to Raise
Graze to Raise is a 5K walk and taste to support charity care at the Hickman Cancer Center on the campus of ProMedica Bixby Hospital. This family-friendly event includes a walk across the hospital’s campus with several stops to try specialties from local restaurants. The eighth annual Graze to Raise will take place on October 19, 2013 at Bixby Hospital. To support or learn more about the event, please contact Terri Butler at 517-265-0428 or terri.butler@promedica.org.
Families and philanthropic purpose
Philanthropy can be a force that unites and focuses a family. At ProMedica, we have helped generations of families fulfill their philanthropic visions. We bring extensive skill, knowledge and hands-on experience to support your family in defining and realizing their unique philanthropic purpose.
Many families face a significant challenge in passing the values of personal commitment, involvement and contribution to younger generations. Philanthropy is a powerful, proven means for integrating wealth and family by bridging generations and uniting family members around common causes and shared concerns. Philanthropy empowers individual family members by offering them significant responsibility for activities and issues that are important to them.
Define your purpose
Philanthropic efforts require focus in order to succeed. Betsy Kelsey, Director ProMedica Planned Giving, offers you personal support and an array of tools to help you and your family assess your goals, values and interests, allowing you to create a philanthropic road map to guide you in developing a more formal statement of purpose, including:
What you want your philanthropy to stand for
The issues, geography and populations you want to affect
How your giving will achieve your goals

The Donald and Ethel Baughey Foundation
This foundation has been very supportive of the Hickman Cancer Center at ProMedica Bixby Hospital over the years. Donald and Dorcas Baughey, Jr. are the son and daughter-in-law of the founders of this foundation. Living in Adrian, they are very concerned about the availability of quality health care for the people of Lenawee County. Mr. Baughey is very appreciative of the care he received as a patient at the Hickman Cancer Center several years ago. Both Mr. and Mrs. Baughey carry on the wishes of Donald and Ethel with great discretion and consideration.
