Harley was always on the go. He retired just two years ago as an administrator for the prison system, and recently began working part-time unloading trucks at Bass Pro Shops. For Harley, “retirement” seemed to be keeping him busy. He also managed to find time to get on his bike and ride. That is until his body told him differently.
“I knew I tore something,” said Harley. After a quick evaluation, the ER doctor at ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital revealed the bad news. “The X-ray showed I had partially torn cartilage in my knee.”
Harley recalls meeting with both Dr. Michael Tremains, board-certified, orthopedic surgeon, and his physician assistant, Megan. “I met with Megan right away. She and Dr. Tremains quickly validated that surgery was in my near future.”
Having his surgery at ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital was an easy decision for Harley. The hospital was not too far away and he knew from past experience that he would receive excellent care. “I was impressed with the communication of the surgery team. The nurses were so patient and answered all my questions,” he said.
Within a few days of having outpatient surgery, Harley was assessed for follow up care and rehabilitation at ProMedica Total Rehab. He said “my recovery was better than I could have expected. They were great.”
Today, Harley is glad to be back on his bike again thanks to Dr. Tremains and the team at ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital. “There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to health care. I went with experience and the team I could trust, and it paid off.”
