Nancy leads a very active life. As a grandmother of four, she enjoys spending as much time as she can with her grandkids. She is also a supervisor at a major retail store, which keeps her on her feet most of the day. However, that all changed after she injured in her knee in a car accident. Over the course of a year, the pain gradually got worse. She realized something had to be done when she could no longer get down on the floor to play with her 1-year-old granddaughter.
Having her surgery at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital was any easy decision for Nancy. The hospital is conveniently located near her home and she knew from past experience that she would receive excellent care. “I didn’t a see a reason to go anywhere else,” she said.
Nancy felt like she was in good hands from the very beginning of the procedure. “Dr. Dajczak, the surgical team and recovery nurses were friendly, attentive and kind, which helped me feel comfortable.” Nancy continued, “It couldn’t have gone any better than it did.”
In the weeks following her surgery, Nancy returned to the hospital for rehab at ProMedica Total Rehab. She was impressed by the compassion and dedication of her physical therapists. “I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I did without them,” said Nancy. “They were topnotch.”
Today, Nancy is back to her active self, working hard and playing with grandkids. She enjoys sharing her experience with her friends and customers. “They are always surprised and can’t believe I just had a knee replacement,” she said. “I tell them the secret to my speedy recovery was the expert care I received from my local hospital, ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.”
