Barry has never been one to sit back and take it easy. A former high school athletic director and football coach, he is always on the go. He enjoys running, biking and traveling across the country with his wife. However, years of wear and tear led to severe pain in his knee, and eventually made it hard for him to even walk.
Barry knew he needed surgery, but kept putting it off, fearing it would leave him incapacitated for months. It wasn’t until he retired for the third and final time that he felt he was ready for a total knee replacement. After doing some thorough research, Barry chose Dr. Dajczak and ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital for the procedure. “He was close and highly recommended,” said Barry. “It seemed like a good fit.”
From the very beginning, Barry was impressed with Dr. Dajczak and the team at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital. “They explained everything, kept my pain at a minimum, and anticipated my needs,” he said. “They made it as good of an experience as could possibly be.”
Barry was especially pleased with the physical therapists, who had him up walking the same day as his surgery. They continued to help him recover one week after in his home. “They were outstanding,” he said. “They made the exercises fun, and less of a chore.” Barry continued his physical therapy at ProMedica Defiance Rehabilitation Services where he made great strides in his recovery.
Barry was so happy with his experience that he decided to go back to ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital for surgery on his other knee. He is confident that the procedure will be just as successful, and it won’t be long before he is back enjoying life at full speed.
