We'll Help You Live

ProMedica Hospice provides quality, compassionate care to those facing life-limiting illness. The focus of hospice care is on quality of life and assisting individuals in living life fully and completely while controlling pain and other symptoms by attending to the patient’s physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs.
The caregivers at ProMedica Hospice believe that the right to die with dignity is paramount, and that patients and families should receive the necessary support to allow death to occur as a natural part of life. It is important to understand that hospice does not extend the dying process or bring about death before its time, only provides comfort and care throughout the process.
In Our Home or Yours

Hospice services can be provided to anyone with a terminal illness, in their own home, in an assisted living or skilled nursing facility, or at ProMedica’s Ebeid Hospice Residence. Hospice patients can receive specialized visits from hospice team members in addition to other care and services provided by the facility in which they live.
When to Call
Very often, people struggle much longer than necessary before seeking hospice care because they do not understand what hospice provides and how hospice care may help. Hospice care is indicated when a person has a life expectancy of six months or less, foregoes further curative treatment, and chooses care primarily designed to maximize his/her comfort and quality of life. Choosing hospice care is a decision made by the patient and family in consultation with the patient’s physician. Early access to ProMedica Hospice is encouraged so that patients and family members may receive the supportive care that they need at this difficult time.

Our Team
The ProMedica Hospice team is highly trained in end-of-life care. Physicians and nurses provide expertise in pain and symptom management; social workers offer counseling and connect families to helpful resources; home health aides assist patients with personal care upon request; trained volunteers provide patient support and assistance so that caregivers can have time away; and chaplains foster the spiritual needs of patients and families. A nurse is available to patients and families 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies, answer questions or simply lend caring support.
Insurance Coverage
Hospice services are covered under Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances. This coverage includes medications, supplies and medical equipment associated with the patient’s terminal condition. Inpatient room and board charges are not normally covered by Medicare and most private insurances, however, financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
Bereavement Support
At ProMedica Hospice, we understand grieving the death of a loved one is a personal experience. Our bereavement support groups, counseling services, and community outreach programs are available to all hospice families and community individuals following the death of a loved one. Please call and allow us to support you during this difficult time.
