The PHS CME department moves forward in assisting physicians' commitment to lifelong learning by providing high-quality educational activities. In addition, we combine the convenience of attending local CME activities with the quality of national level conferences.”

Mission Statement

Purpose
The Continuing Medical Education department of ProMedica Health System is committed to supporting and enhancing excellence in patient care. The overall goal of the CME program is to provide quality medical education that addresses relevant medical topics and professional practice gaps.

Target Audience
The PHS CME program is designed primarily for physicians in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Participation by allied health care professionals is encouraged.

Types of Activities Provided
PHS offers a variety of CME activity formats designed to meet the expected results of the program, including:

  • courses
  • department-specific, regularly scheduled conferences (e.g. grand rounds, tumor boards, and mortality/morbidity conferences)
  • enduring materials
  • internet-based activities

 

Content Areas
The content of PHS CME activities encompasses primary care and medical specialties as appropriate. Topics may include:

  • diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease
  • improvement of patient outcomes
  • physician-patient communications
  • professional development

 

Expected Results
The expected results of the PHS CME program are changes in physician competence or performance based on identified professional practice gaps. The PHS CME department is committed to assessing the impact and effectiveness of its CME activities. Assessment methods may include:

  • post-activity evaluation
  • outcomes measurements
  • collaboration with PHS and other reporting agencies to evaluate improved patient outcomes

 

Accreditation
The ProMedica Health System is accredited by the Ohio State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
