Community Health & Wellness


Bay Park Community Hospital provides community health and wellness programs and services to local community members and businesses. A variety of screenings and educational programs are offered annually, both on site at Bay Park Community Hospital as well as throughout the community. We promote wellness by providing health risk appraisals, health clinics, education, fitness activities and resources, and referrals.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Every Saturday, 2 – 3 p.m.
BPCH Great Lakes Conference Center, Erie Room
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who share their experiences about alcoholism in an effort to end their dependence on alcohol and help others recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking, and there are no dues or fees for AA membership. The primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Al-Anon
Every Saturday, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
BPCH Great Lakes Conference Center, Erie Room
Al-Anon offers strength and hope for friends and families of problem drinkers. It is estimated that each alcoholic affects the lives of at least four other people. Alcoholism is a family disease, and the disease affects those who have a relationship with a problem drinker. There are no dues or fees in Al-Anon meetings. The primary purpose is to learn a better way of life and to find happiness whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. For more information, please call 419-382-5513.


Look Good, Feel Better
Second Monday of the month, every other month, 2 – 4 p.m.
BPCH Great Lakes Conference Center, Huron Room
Look Good…Feel Better is a free, non-medical, brand-neutral, national public service program created to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem and manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. Group programs are hands-on, step-by-step make-over learning sessions with trained cosmetology professionals. For more information, please call 419-843-8189.


Childbirth Education
Every Thursday, 6 – 8 p.m.
BPCH Great Lakes Conference Center, Superior Room
The birth of a baby is a wonderful and exciting experience, and now, expectant parents can take advantage of this exceptional resource available to them. Attending these educational classes can help parents obtain the knowledge, confidence and support they need during their pregnancy and after the birth of their baby. Outpatient Diabetes Program
Third Thursday of the month, 8 – 9 a.m.
BPCH Great Lakes Conference Center, HRL Conference Room
Managing diabetes affects all aspects of the individual's life: meal planning, physical activity, knowing how and when to take medications, what to do when schedules vary, and staying motivated. Diabetes education at Bay Park Community Hospital provides you with the correct tools, education and support to be healthy, enjoy life and prevent complications. Getting Ovar It
Third Thursday of the month, 7– 8:30 p.m.
Hickman Cancer Center at Flower Hospital, HCC Conference Room
Getting Ovar It is a gynecological cancer support group for all women who currently have or have had a gynecological cancer. Getting Ovar It provides emotional support in an environment where survivors can relate to one another and share their experiences, joys, fears, and questions. Also, teleconferencing is offered for anyone who would like to participate in a meeting, but are not able to attend. For more information, please call 419-824-8822.


C.H.A.M.P.S. (Choosing Hope and Moving Past Sadness)
Day camp meets the third week of June, Tue. – Thurs., 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
YMCA & JCC of Greater Toledo, 6465 Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, OH 43560
C.H.A.M.P.S. is a three-day program for children ages 6 and up who have a parent or loved one diagnosed with cancer. This day camp gives children the opportunity to explore their feelings through special activities and meet other children in similar situations. The program is free but registration is required.
