For those patients desiring hospice care, ProMedica Hospice provides a holistic program of comfort and support. The goal of hospice is to achieve the highest quality of life for people with a life-limiting illness by attending to the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients.
Choosing hospice care is a decision made by the patient and family in agreement with the patient's physician. ProMedica Hospice respond to immediate needs, answer questions and lend caring support to patients and loved ones – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Hospice services are covered 100% under Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance programs. Please contact our hospice office with any questions you have regarding hospice coverage and benefits. For more information about hospice services, call ProMedica Hospice at 1-800-234-9355.

Hospice Volunteer Opportunities
The volunteers of ProMedica Hospice offer a variety of services to our patients and families, as well as the community. Volunteers cherish the intrinsic rewards that come from giving the gift of themselves to those in need. We can provide volunteer opportunities in your neighborhood or at our office.
Some of the service opportunities available to volunteers include:
Companionship – A volunteer's presence can be extremely comforting to a patient even if the volunteer only sits quietly in the room. Volunteers often read to patients, help with letter writing or share in a hobby or leisure activity.
Respite Care – Volunteers lend support to caregivers to give them time to take care of their own needs. While a volunteer visits the patient, the family member or loved one has the opportunity to go shopping, visit friends or simply rest.
Support Work – Volunteers are crucial to provide behind the scenes support as well as helping directly with patients. Our volunteers assist with clerical work, phone calling, assembling care packages, baking for our patients and families, caring for our hospice garden and much more. Volunteers may also be utilized in community education and public relations efforts.
For more information on volunteer opportunities with ProMedica Hospice, please contact the coordinator of volunteer services at 419-897-2803 if located in the Toledo area and 419-435-1832 if located in the Fostoria area.
