McKinley Gets Fit with Fields of Green

Children at McKinley Elementary School in Toledo recently began a week-long exercise program, developed by area high school students at Notre Dame Academy and St. John's Jesuit High School as part of
ProMedica's Fields of Green scholarship competition.
The program, which is intended to help fight childhood obesity, includes exercise routines from countries all over the world and teaches about healthy snack options and information from cultures around the globe. Through the routines, students will learn about different cultures as well as how to count in various native languages.
Be sure to check out the following clip from WTOL to learn more about the program — and to see it in action!

America's Move to Raise Healthier Kids
Let's Move! is an ambitious program with an important goal: to solve the epidemic of childhood obesity within a generation.
The initiative — championed by First Lady Michelle Obama and the White House — focuses on providing support to parents to help them make healthier choices for their families, ensuring that children have access to healthy meals at schools, increasing the amount of time that children engage in physical activity, and making healthy food more affordable for families.
You can join the First Lady, community leaders and parents across the country in this national campaign to fight childhood obesity.

Healthy Conversation Map® Education Program

ProMedica Health System employees are teaching children and their parents about good health in ProMedica’s 27-county service area through the 1,2,3 and ∏ Keys to Good Health Conversation Map® education program. ProMedica launched this preventive, interactive health course for children in grades four – six and their parents to help combat the growing problem of childhood obesity in our community. Each trainer uses an educational tool kit that consists of a map visual, activity cards and a facilitator guide designed to initiate discussions that promote positive behavior change. More than 20 ProMedica employees completed training in Fall 2009 to become a Healthy Conversation Map facilitator. The program is part of
