ProMedica Providing Free Skin Screenings
posted on: 09/11/2013DEFIANCE, Ohio, Sept., 2013 –The ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital will offer free skin cancer screenings for the public on Fri., Sept. 20 2013. The screenings will include a skin exam, education, and follow-up support. These services are being provided by Dr. Thomas Flanigan, ProMedica Cancer Institute, and The Women’s Center at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.
With an expected 1 in 5 Americans being diagnosed with skin cancer, experts recommend annual, professional skin screenings for both youth and adults. Early detection of skin cancer is vital to a successful treatment plan and raises the cure rate to nearly 95 percent of cases. Screenings take approximately 10-15 minutes. Follow-up appointments can be made at the time of the screening.
Accompanying Dr. Flanigan, will be medical aesthetician Michelle McDonald who will be available to answer questions about medically-based skin protection and care, which offers elevated defense against sun damage. Dr. Flanigan and McDonald’s services are now available at The Women’s Center at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.
Free Skin Cancer Screening appointments are available Fri., Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at The Women’s Center at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, 1200 Ralston Ave., Defiance, Ohio. Appointments are limited. To schedule an appointment, call 419-783-6911.
