ProMedica is dedicated to researching ways in which we can improve patient care. We are consistently running clinical trials that are open to new volunteers. The types and availability of trials can change monthly, weekly and sometimes even daily. To keep you up-to-date on these ever-changing opportunities, please check back frequently.

If you see a trial that interests you, please contact the appropriate person listed for that trial. This contact person is a clinical research coordinator. He or she can give you the status of a particular trial, as well as answer any of your questions. Please note, all of our studies have been approved by our ProMedica Institutional Review Board.

Oncology (Cancer Care)

In partnership with ProMedica Cancer Institute, the ProMedica research team offers a variety of clinical research trials. On average, more than 150 cancer clinical trials for children and adults are active at any given time, including new therapeutic drugs, quality-of-life enhancement studies and more.

Cardiology (Heart Care)

Working collaboratively with ProMedica Heart and Vascular Institutes, cardiology researchers offer patients access to cutting-edge treatments. Trials vary and include the following goals and procedures: reducing risk factors; treating associated disease processes, such as hypertension (high blood pressure) or hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol); and interventional procedures, including non-invasive, invasive and open-heart surgery.

Nephrology (Kidney Health)

Early detection and treatment can often keep chronic kidney disease from getting worse. When kidney disease progresses, it may eventually lead to kidney failure requiring dialysis, or a kidney transplant, to maintain life. Trials are aimed at finding new treatments for people with chronic kidney disease, both in early disease and during dialysis. Since many diseases, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, can affect the kidneys, many trials focus on the body as a whole in order to preserve kidney function.

Orthopaedics (Bones, Joints, Ligaments, Tendons, Muscles, and Nerves)

In partnership with ProMedica Orthopaedic Institute, physicians and researchers implement studies in numerous orthopaedic treatment areas including bones, joints and sports medicine. Trials include both preventive medicine and treatment opportunities for patients.
