After the NICU
Special Care Clinic
Babies in the NICU face many challenges during their hospital stay. Some babies will continue to face challenges months after they are released from the hospital.
The special care clinic is a developmental follow-up program that provides periodic neurodevelopmental evaluations and assessments of a baby’s growth. Babies who come to the special care clinic are those who may be at risk for future developmental difficulties. Your doctor will let you know if your baby needs to go to special care clinic. The special care clinic is staffed by a developmental pediatrician, physical therapist, speech/language specialist, nutritionist, early intervention specialist, and a nurse.
NICU Reunion Day
Every September, ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital NICU hosts a special day of fun and fellowship for former patients and families. This annual reunion celebrates the success and progress made by NICU graduates. It is also excellent chance for families to reconnect with friends made while their child was in NICU. This event is free and open to the public.
