Internal Medicine
Internal medicine physicians focus on the medical needs of patients over the age of 18. These specialists (called internists) are trained to diagnose and treat routine and acute illnesses, chronic health conditions and complex medical disorders. They also provide preventive care services and can perform minor surgical procedures.
Internal medicine physicians can also order tests and coordinate an individual’s overall care by arranging referrals and consulting with specialists.
