Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive type of dementia that usually occurs after the age of 65. There is also a more rare type called early-onset Alzheimer’s, which affects people before the age of 60. The symptoms of Alzheimer’s – memory impairment, language difficulties, problems making decisions, difficulty with judgment, and personality changes – make this a particularly challenging diagnosis. If you or someone you love is facing dementia or Alzheimer’s, know that you are not alone.
We have many services to help patients and their families deal with such a diagnosis. The support of family, friends and professional resources can be a great comfort, and our professionals can offer knowledge, routines and activities tailored to an individual’s needs.
Research shows that a controlled environment with regular daily routines and appropriate activities can actually slow the progression of dementia, manage symptoms and enhance quality of life. Our team includes neurologists and credentialed physicians who want to provide patients and their families with the appropriate medical and psychological care.
If you’re a caregiver and need time to attend to other aspects of your life, we offer adult day care in a safe, secure and compassionate environment at ProMedica Goerlich Center.
